Selecting a header & starting row

If you’re using an uploaded file or a Google Sheet with more flexibility in data formatting, you may need to customize your header & starting row in Polymer. You’ll know you need to check this if your column titles aren’t what you expected or you’re seeing several “Unknown” column titles.

Some common examples of when this happens are:

• Your dataset has two header rows - typically the first one categorizes the second.
• There are some calculations or additional info at the top of your dataset.
• There are multiple tables stacked in the same spreadsheet.

To resolve this, you’ll go to the data manager using the plug icon in the top right corner. From there, you can choose “Edit Header Row” from the file’s options.

A pop up modal will open asking you to select a header row & then a starting row.

• A header row contains your column titles
• A starting row contains your first row of data

When done, click confirm to save your updates!
